Joy Finding Journal Prompts For Parents

Finding joy as a parent can be challenging at times, especially when you’re juggling multiple responsibilities and caring for your little ones. But it’s still there, you’ve just got to find it!
Use these prompts to help you discover, or rediscover what brings you joy.
1. What are some things that never fail to bring a smile to your face? Write about a time when one of those things made you feel particularly joyful.
2. Think about a recent experience that filled you with happiness. What did it feel like in your body? How did it affect your mood and energy?
3. Write about a memory from your childhood that still brings you joy. What was happening in that moment? What made it so special? Could you recreate it with your child?
4. Consider the people in your life who bring you the most joy. Who are they, and what do you love about them? Write about a specific moment or experience you shared with one of these people that made you feel happy.
5. What did you used to enjoy before you became a parent? Has this changed? How and why?
6. What new joys have you found since you became a parent? have any surprised you?
7. Make a list of things you love to do purely for the joy they bring you. How often do you make time for these activities in your life? What can you do to prioritise them more?
8. Think about a place that feels especially joyful to you. It could be a physical place or an imaginary one. Write about what makes that place so special and how it makes you feel.
9. What small moments in your day bring you the most joy? Write about one or two of these moments and why they make you happy. How can you build more of these into your day?
10. Write a letter to your future self describing a joyful moment you hope to experience in the future. What does it feel like, sound like, and look like?
